1. Delete in the app
The quickest and most direct way to delete your account is from within the app itself. This option is available to every member and does not require you to contact us first.
- Open Rasik Bandhan on your Android device and sign in if you are not already signed in.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Delete account.
- Read the on-screen notice explaining that deletion is permanent, then confirm.
- Your account is deactivated immediately, your profile is removed from other members' search results and matches, and the removal of your personal data begins straight away.
Once you confirm, your profile is no longer visible to any other member within the Service. The deletion request then moves into our processing queue and your personal data is erased as described in section 3 and within the timeline described in section 4.
Please note: deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. There is no recovery or "undo" period. If you want to take a break instead of permanently leaving, simply sign out and return whenever you wish — your account remains until you actively choose to delete it.
2. Request deletion by email
If you cannot access the app — for example, you have uninstalled it, changed your phone, or are unable to sign in — you can still request deletion of your account and personal data by email. Send your request to rasikbandhan@gmail.com from the email address registered to your account, with the subject line "Delete my account".
To help us locate your account and verify that the request is genuinely yours, please include the following in your email:
- The phone number used to sign in to Rasik Bandhan (this is the primary way we identify your account).
- Your registered name as it appears on your profile.
- A clear statement that you want your account and personal data permanently deleted.
Because account deletion is permanent, we treat these requests carefully. To protect your data and prevent someone else from deleting your account, we may ask you to verify your identity before we proceed — for example, by confirming details linked to your account or by completing a one-time verification on your registered phone number. We will not action a deletion request until we are reasonably satisfied that it comes from the account holder.
Once your identity is confirmed, we will action your request and delete your data exactly as described in section 3 and section 4. Both deletion methods — in the app and by email — lead to the same permanent outcome; the in-app option is simply faster because it does not require manual verification.
3. What is removed
When you delete your account, we remove the personal data associated with it from our active systems. This includes:
- Your profile details — name, age or date of birth, gender, location or city, height, marital status, education, profession, languages, and family details.
- The religious and devotional details you chose to share — Sampradaya, guru-parampara, and diksha / initiation status.
- Your profile photographs and any other images you uploaded.
- Your phone number and optional email address held on your account.
- The interests you sent and received, your matches, and your in-app messages.
- Your search preferences, settings, and the push-notification token registered to your device.
After deletion, your profile can no longer be searched, viewed, or contacted by any other member, and you will stop receiving notifications from the App.
Some technical and analytics information (for example, app version, device information, IP address, log data, and crash and usage analytics processed through Google Analytics for Firebase) is collected in an aggregated or pseudonymous form and is not tied to your identity. Where such information is not linked to you as an individual, it is not part of your personal profile and is retained or rolled off in line with our analytics providers' standard retention settings.
4. What is retained, and for how long
Our goal is to delete your personal data completely. However, in a small number of cases the law requires us — or permits us — to keep limited information for a defined period after your account is deleted. We retain only the minimum information necessary, only for as long as it is genuinely required, and only for the specific purposes set out below.
What we may retain
- Records required to comply with the law. Information we are obliged to keep under applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
- Safety, abuse and fraud-prevention records. Where there has been a report or finding of prohibited conduct, abuse, harassment, or fraud, we may retain limited records (such as the content reported, the action taken, and the identifiers involved) so that we can enforce our Terms, protect other members, respond to law-enforcement or regulatory requests, and prevent a banned or unsafe user from simply creating a new account. This includes records connected with our obligations relating to child safety under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
- Transaction and billing records. If you purchased a premium plan, the underlying payment is processed by Google Play Billing — we do not collect or store your card or bank details. We may, however, retain limited transaction records (such as the fact that a purchase occurred and its date) where this is required for tax, accounting, audit, or refund-handling purposes.
- Records needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Where reasonably necessary to handle a dispute, complaint, or legal claim involving your account.
How long we keep it
Retained information is kept only for the period required by the applicable legal, tax, safety, or fraud-prevention obligation, after which it is securely deleted or irreversibly anonymised. Where the law sets a specific retention period, we follow that period; where it does not, we keep the information no longer than is reasonably necessary for the purpose described above. We do not retain your personal data indefinitely "just in case", and we do not sell personal data.
Backups
For security and disaster recovery, we keep encrypted backups of our systems. Immediately after deletion your data is removed from our live, active systems, but residual copies may remain in those backups for a short period. Backups containing residual data are overwritten and purged on a rolling schedule, so any residual copies of your data are cleared in the normal course of that backup cycle. While data sits in a backup awaiting purge, it is not used to provide the Service and is not accessible to other members.
Timeline for processing your request
When you delete your account in the app, deactivation is immediate and removal from our active systems begins right away and is typically completed within a short processing window. For requests made by email, processing begins once we have verified your identity. In all cases we aim to complete deletion within a reasonable period — ordinarily within about 30 days — except for any information we are required to retain under the categories above. Residual data in backups is then cleared on the rolling backup-purge schedule described in this section.
Deletion is permanent
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once your data has been deleted it cannot be recovered or restored, and we will not be able to reinstate your previous profile, photos, matches, or messages. If you wish to use Rasik Bandhan again in the future, you will need to create a new account from the beginning.
5. Active subscriptions
Premium plans on Rasik Bandhan are prepaid, one-time purchases sold and billed solely through Google Play Billing, with Google Play as the seller of record. Each plan unlocks premium features for a fixed term and does not auto-renew, so there is no recurring or automatic charge to cancel. When the paid term ends, premium access simply ends unless you choose to buy another plan.
Because plans are prepaid and do not recur, deleting your Rasik Bandhan account does not by itself refund, extend, or change a current paid term, and there is no recurring charge that needs to be cancelled. If you have already deleted the app, you can still view your purchase history in the Google Play Store app under Payments & subscriptions → Budget & history, or at play.google.com/store/account.
Any refunds are handled in accordance with Google Play's refund policies — you request a refund through Google Play, and we can assist with your order number. For more detail, see our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
